November, it’s both fall and beginning of winter. Temperatures are still a bit hot at the beginning of the month and drop little by lttle to become temperate at the end of the month…

Beginning of November, in the northern mountains, farmers finish planting and seeding winter crops (garlic, onions, wheat, and vegetables).

End of November, farmers from lower lands (like Nizwa, for example…) do the same.

Harvesting of dates has already finished…

Best outdoor activities to do in Oman in November

November is a very good month to visit Oman.

For mountain hiking, days are still a bit hot at the beginning of the month, but it’s totaly bearable ; at the end of the month, it’s perfect! Nights over 2000m might be mild or freezing cold (we usualy witness in November the first frosts around 2000m). So, you should plan warm clothes. If you plan to camp, you should bring a warm sleeping bag (Comfort -5°C).

Mid-november opens the season to stay several days in the desert for hiking. Beginning of November is usually still a bit hot : you can go in the desert, but better not to plan to stay too many days…

Seaside is very pleasant and the water of the Sea of Oman is still warm : perfect for snorkeling!

In the wadis water is also at good temperature : swimming in natural pools is great! We can still go canyoning and aquatic hiking in shorts and t-shirts without wetsuits.

Camping in the desert, on the coast, or in the lowhills is really nice : temperatures are mild but drop enough at night so that we can sleep. If you camp in the mountain, it might start to be cold at night, and you should plan warm clothes and a good sleeping bag!

Outdoor activities to avoid in November in Oman

Not much to advise against doing in November… but as it is a transition season, some activities are best at the beggining or at the end of the month :

For desert, better at the end of the month. Beginning of November is often still a bit hot, above all in Rub Al Khali…
