February marks the end of winter and beginning of spring. Temperatures are great : not yet too hot in the lowlands, and not too cold anymore in the mountain.

Palm trees flower late January and February.

At 1500m, peaches and apricots blossom at the end of the month.

Best outdoor activities to do in Oman in February

It’s one of the best months (but also almost the last one…) for mountain hiking and trekking. Nights are still cold above 2000m ; You should plan warm clothes. If you plan to camp, you need a warm sleeping bag (comfort -5°C).

It’s also still time to stay several days in the desert and hike in the dunes. But at the end of the month, or beginning of March, it will be already too late : heat iis coming back…

The coast remains nice in February, and the water of the Sea of Oman starts to warm up again.

It’s also the case for the water in the wadis around the end of the month ; it’s again delightful to swim in natural turquoise pools, and go for aquatic hiking and canyoning.

Camping in the desert, on the beach, or in the lowhills is great : temperatures overnight are perfect! High in the mountains, it is still cold at night, and one should plan warm clothes and warm sleeping bag.

Outdooor activities to avoid in February in Oman

Not much to advise against during this beautiful month… but as it is a transition month, some activies are best to plan at the beginning or at the end of the month :

For desert, rather early February. It might be already hot late February…

Contrariwise, for canyoning and aquatic hiking, you should rather plan it at the end of the month, since water can still be cold early February…
